Mental Health Week Schedule 2025

Monday, May 5 – Mental Health Kick-Off

  • Location: Gym

  • Activities:

    • Whole school assembly – Kickoff Video: "What is Mental Health?"

    • Gym session with Sabrina: Singing bowl and mindful activities to support mental wellness

    • Craft- kind words on a 3D butterfly
  • Focus: Introduction to mental health and mindfulness


Tuesday, May 6 – Understanding Emotions

  • Learning Goal: Learn about emotions and strategies for managing them

  • Activities:

    • Watch video on understanding emotions

    • First Snack: Healthy Treat from Parent Council

    • Outdoor Yoga Session: With Summer Allan

  • Focus: Emotional awareness and regulation

 

Wednesday, May 7 – Practicing Gratitude

  • 8:50 AM: All classes in the gym for a session on Gratitude

  • 1:45 PM: Outside for Mindful Bubble Blowing

  • Classroom Activity:

    • Students write what they’re grateful for on flower-shaped post-its

    • Hang them on the office window display:
      “Gratitude grows positivity”

  • Focus: Cultivating gratitude and mindful reflection


Thursday, May 8 – Mindful Looking

  • Activity: Watch the Mindful Looking video

    • Discuss how mindful observation helps calm the mind

  • 11:50–12:00 PM: Whole school goes outside for 5–10 minutes of Mindful Cloud Watching

  • 12:00–12:15 PM: Buddy Class Picnic outdoors

  • Focus: Awareness, observation, and connection with others

     

    Friday, May 9 – Hats On for Mental Health

    • All Day: Wear a hat to show support for mental health. Donations will be warmly welcomed.  

    • 2:30 PM: Ice Cream Treat (provided by PAC – Read-A-Thon)

      • Outside fun with Mrs. Heide and Mrs. Kalev

      • Students pack up before heading outside

      • Backpacks stay at lockers

    • Focus: Community, celebration, and positive mental health awareness
